Smalltim OSD and autopilot (часть 2)
baychi:

For standalone OSD module you need software:

www.swiftai.com/sites/…/v270_nao_ap.hex__0.zip
if you have barosensors, or

www.swiftai.com/…/v270_nao_baro_e_ap.hex_.zip
if no.

I Have Barios so i am using - v270_nao_ap.hex__0.zip

May be AP firmware corrupt.
Before change OSD firmware, reload AP from here www.swiftai.com/…/autopilot_1_25_4.hex__0.zip.

Yes, firmware Version In control panel is -

Autopilot Firmware version: 1.25.4
Autopilot Firmware date: 19.02.2013

If after menu command “Upload software” control panel still write “Wait to AP answer” (Ожидают ответа…), press HWB and RST buttons on AP, than realase RST, then HWB. Reloading must be begin.

When i make a change in OSD Screen#1 it says ‘Waiting for data from autopilot - See Image’

I Press and hold HWB, Then Press RST, then release HWB - The LED #5 stays on

baychi:

Can you change OSD firmware through AP?

I change OSD firmware by going to Tools>Firmware Upgrae>OSD

Both Yes Bario/No Bario Firmware works, as when first starting is says

Bario - B

Or
GPS - G

I think you can’t change this firmware screen design!?

Thank-you for your help so far!

Smalltim OSD and autopilot (часть 2)

Hello Guys!

Sorry me again!

I love this Autopilot, but I’m finding really hard to configure and troubleshoot as i don’t speak any Russian!

I have now 2 problems:

I want to use just the OSD module, so i uploaded ‘telementry_gen4_1_2.hex’

In my screen i have this, i don’t understand and i can’t translate:

See image of screen!

Now, i thought maybe it means wrong firmware, so i tried to upload firmware 'v270 nao AP.hex

Now, i still get same view in googles but now the Autopilot board wont work, it just has LED 5 lit all the time!

Pc makes connect/disconnect sound, but no data transfer?

Any idea? Have i bricked it?

Ben

Smalltim OSD and autopilot (часть 2)

Hello guys!

Hope your all in good health!

Please could you help me with a few little things?

GPS / IMU calibration…

Can someone please help me calibrate my IMU, each time I do the calibration, it just says ‘needs calibrating’

I set my aircraft on North – South orientation, then calibrate, but it still says ‘needs calibration’
Also, I can’t find the IMU manual anymore; it says it’s not available?

www.swiftai.com/en/good/swiftai-imu Access denied?

Also, is there an editor for the OSD?

I would like the altitude to display on the left hand side, under the speed. The reason for this, is that I only have 20% vision on my right eye, and I can’t see the battery info, altitude etc… on the right in my goggles!

i would like to change around the location of information if i can?

Thanks guys!

Hi Cosha,

Yes, this part is OK to replace the original one.
BTW, how did you manage to fry it? I haven’t seen this inductor to be fried on ur boards.
Can you remember what happened then?

Before you put the replacement on the board, you can short the pads with solder and see if the boards works fine. If so, then remove the shortcut and install the new inductor.
Actually, if you don’t want to mess with all of this soldering stuff, just drop an email to contact at smalltim.ru and we’ll send the replacement board for free.

Thank-you for the reply!

I am finding it hard to buy less than 3000 of these inductors 😁

It was running fine on the back of the Autopilot board for around 20mins, powered via the Autopilot. For no reason, a little bit of smoke and smell and i found this burnt!

The protective shrink wrap was on, and nothing shorted it, it was on my bench getting set up. the USB port was connected to the PC

😃

PLEASE HELP…

I have installed all the parts into my Twinstar, but my IMU board thinks its upside down!

I have changed the IMU orientation in the control pannel, no change! It does not matter what i change it still says its upside down!

The IMU board is glued into the fuselage and i cant get it out!!

Thank-you for replying!

No, my board does not have a plastic attachment on the power terminals!

Would it be wise for me to use a seperate 2s lipo with JST leads and make my own power jack? I belive i have seen a picture of the current sensor opened and used to make a 11.1v power supply…

I think i will make my own jack to be on the safe side!

Am i correct that the IMU replaces the pyrosenors altogether? If so, for better performance i will buy a IMU board!

So far i think its a great system, but i have yet to fly using it 😛

Smalltim OSD and autopilot (часть 2)

Good Morning!

Sorry, i only speak English 😮

I have a few questions about the SwiftAi Autopilot / SmallTim OSD

My Set Includes:

Autopilot Board - XY sensor & Z Sensor
OSD Module
Tracker

Questions:

Do i need the IMU Board for Quadcopter?

How do i calibrate XY / Z sensors? When placed on my model the angle is not correct?

Can you only power the autopilot via the balance lead from a 3s lipo?

Thank-you for you’re help

Ben
