The Dutch Micro Magic Class Association in cooperation with the Roei- en Zeilvereniging Gouda is organising the
ENJOY SAILING MICRO MAGIC EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS 3-4 NOVEMBER 2007
The championship will be held at the Reeuwijkse plassen close to Gouda in the centre of Holland at the facilities of the club mentioned above. http:// www.roeienzeil. nl
We expect participants from known fleets of France, Germany, Great Brittan, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Switserland and also from other new emerging MM fleets of Belgium, Italy and Denmark. Embassadors or representatives of the fleets to help organising the event and especially stimulate MM sailors to compete in this great event. When more people want to compete then the assigned number, they are responsible for the national selection.
Time Schedule:
August 31: latest day to send me your list if interested possible participants (number of skippers).
First week of September: Definitive number of participants for each country will be assigned.
September 30: That is the day that I’d like to receive your lists of definitive and confirmed participants (sailnumbers and names) and their available frequencies.
Oktober: Definitive arrangement of frequencies and other (transport) details.
Some participants will have to arrange or buy other frequencies to have all participants be able to sail freely with their own private frequency.
The club where we organise the event is very experienced in organising RC sailing regattas. Our experience together with them is that a fleet of 45 MM can have a great venue in 2 days. This being the first Europeans it is important that we completely fill up the 45 available places. Each of the existing 7 fleets has been offered 6 places. These first 6 places are available until the 31 August 2007. From the 31st the remaining places (if any) can be filled by a reserve list kept by the MM-ambassadors. We for sure will have to disappoint a lot of sailors here that would want to compete, but they should not complain: they already had their series of events and championship in April at the same location.
The boats competing in this event have to comply with the International one design MM rule: www.micromagic.info/docs/mm_rule_2.pdf The new ‘racing’ MM will be allowed to compete with 2 servo’s in function. Only one keel may be used during the whole 2-day event. We also have rented a very nice place close to the races where all competitors can stay from Thursday evening 17:00 www.watersnip.info/start.php?page=accommodatie_gro…
The Dutch association will pay for the rent for Friday and Saturday as a welcome gesture. As demanded by the Spanish/ Catalonian team, the accommodation ‘Rokende Turf’ has been rented earlier. It will be possible from Thursday afternoon November 2 to stay there for a small sum. I will stay there too and all of you are welcome to get there one day earlier. The more people, the more fun and we’ll be able to split costs more.
The entrance fee for each competitor will be ? 50,00, to be paid on site. This incl*udes a hostel where we all can sleep at the lakeside, breakfasts (Saturday and Sunday), dinners (Friday ad Saturday), some drinks and if necessary a small bus to pick you up at the airport of Amsterdam and drive you from the hostel to the sailing club.
The actual races will be held almost exactly as we did during with our nationals last March with the same organisation. We use the HMS system. This proved to be great for all competitors.
The skippers meeting will be Saturday 3 November at 10:00 with the first warning signal around 11:00.
